Bespoke handmade wedding rings

If you or a loved one holds a birthday in April, then you are lucky enough to claim the diamond as your birthstone. Its name derives from the Greek word ‘Adamas’ meaning invincible and has been the traditional symbol of eternal love since ancient times, which has made the natural diamond the world’s most desired gemstone and the ultimate gift to give to those whose birthdays fall in April.

Ancient theories suggest the magical powers of diamonds, some believed they were the tears of gods. Whereas during the Middle Ages diamonds were thought to hold healing powers. It was believed that they could influence an individual’s balance and clarity as well as being an energy amplifier.

A diamond has a tightly bound crystal structure making it the hardest mineral on earth. Made from carbon and formed at high pressure and temperatures deep under the earth’s crust over billions of years, it is estimated that India was trading diamonds as early as the fourth BC, gathering them from country’s rivers and streams. Today, April’s birthstone is mined all around the world, with the most popular mines being in Africa, Russia and Canada.
